CHERMSIDE, Caroline Jennings Pace
Caroline Jennings Pace Chermside, of Blacksburg, Va., died Friday, December 16, 2005. She was the widow of Robert Alexander Chermside, Jr. Both were retired from the English Department of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
She is survived by several cousins, nieces and two nephews. Born July 12, 1919 in Portsmouth, Virginia, the daughter of Jesse L. and Caroline Phillips Pace. She spent her childhood in Greenville, S.C. She was a teacher, illustrator, and editor. She taught English for 18 years at Virginia Tech. She held a B.A. from Furman University and an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
A memorial funeral service will be held Saturday, January 14, 2006 at 11 a.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Don McKinney officiating. Interment will be in the Graham Cemetery Orange, Va. There will be no visitation. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive SW., Blacksburg.
