Carr, Leroy Edward
Leroy Edward Carr, 78, of Floyd passed away Monday, July 3, 2006. He was born on November 15, 1927 to the late Roy and Dorothy Carr.
He served his country during World War II in the United States Army. Leroy retired from John Hancock’s/Roanoke Electric Steel. He loved his Lord and was a faithful member of the House of Prayer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years and 10 months, Marie Thompson Carr; three children and spouses, Michael and Rosemary Carr of Floyd, Sherry and Ronald Hartsock of Bassett, Darrell Carr and Cassie of Floyd; five grandchildren, Christy Carr, Brittany Carr, Amanda Carr, all of of Floyd, Jonathan Hartsock and Sarah Hartsock of Bassett; brother, Byron Carr and wife, Lorene, of Copper Hill; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Carter and Hilda Thompson; brothers-in-law and spouses, J.C. and Arlene Thompson, Billy and Wanda Thompson; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 6, 2006 at Gardner Funeral Home with the Revs. Vinton Quesenberry, Guy Hartsock, David Stetler, and Sid Stewart officiating.
Interment will follow in Vest Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Gardner Funeral Home where the family will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
