Carithers, Philip Lowell
Dr. Philip Lowell Carithers of Pulaski, passed away Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born on Feb. 5, 1930 in Danville, Ill., he was the son of the late Charles L and Margaret J. Carithers.
Dr. Carithers graduated from Mississippi State University and completed his doctoral degree in Psychology from Indiana State University. He worked as a Chemistry Professor at Radford University and as a Psychologist in Lawrence County, Ohio.
Surviving are: his wife of 51 years, Carol E. Carithers, Pulaski; sisters, Judy Cavender, Casa Grande, Ariz., Joanne Carithers, Perrysville, Ind.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 3:30 p.m. from Stevens Funeral Home with Rev. Hugh Kilgore officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Visiting will be Tuesday evening at Stevens Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m.
