BROWN, Donald Lee

Donald Lee Brown, 74 of Peterstown went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 23rd, 2006 at his home. He was born in Monroe County on September 17th, 1931 and was the son of the late Fillmore and Ada Broyles Brown.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during the Korean Conflict, and was a retired employee of Celanese Acetate in Narrows with 44 years service. He was also very active in politics, serving on Peterstown’s Town Council and was of the Christian Faith. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jeanetta LaRue Brown; four sons, Donald and Penny Brown, Joseph Brown, Sheldon Brown, all of Peterstown, and Rodney and Tammy Brown of Princeton; one daughter, Shelia and Marshall Dunn of Peterstown; eight grandchildren, Leetha Brown, Daniel Brown, Susan Dunn, and Natasha Brown, all of Peterstown, Jessica Dunn of Lexington, Virginia, Tabitha Brown of Christiansburg, Christie Brown of Princeton, Derrick Bailey of Strasburg, Germany; one great-grandson, Blake Brown of Peterstown; four brothers, Bob and Emma Jean Brown of Peterstown, Jim and Mary Brown of Pearisburg, Jack and Wenoka Brown of Salem, Virginia, George “Bill” and Grace Brown of Mayesville, North Carolina; three sisters, Frances Smith of Salem, Betty and Garland Ballengee of Daleville, Virginia, Elsie and Fred Lilly, Jr. of Lindside; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 27th, 2006 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with Tony Reed, Minister, officiating. Burial will follow in the Conley Family Cemetery in the Wolf Creek community with graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post #68 of Narrows. John Terry, Tinker Thornton, Tommy Wickline, Giles Jones, Jimmy Bennett, Carvel Griggs, Lowell Davis, and Bobby Carden Will serve as pallbearers.
