Cardella Ruth Brown, 73, of Dublin and formerly of Giles County, Va., departed this life on Sunday, December 7, 2008, at Lewis-Gale Medical Center in Salem. Born in McComas, W.Va., on February 8, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Charles T. and Annie Kate Lucas Manning.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James A. Brown; her son, Jerry Wayne Brown; her grandsons, James Ellis and Joseph Nelson Banes; her brother, Charles Manning; and her sisters, Helen Osborne, Virgie Snider, and Sarah Pippin.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Carol and Julie Brown, of the home, David and Terri Brown, of Pulaski, Jamie and Nelson Banes, of Max Meadows, Judy and William Hamlin, of Pulaski, Barbara Kessinger, of Glasgow, Debbie and Richard Zirbel, of Hurricane, W.Va., and Ronnie and Bonnie Brown, of Christiansburg; her sister, Ella Mae Day, of Goldbond; her brother, Dewey Manning, of Goldbond; her 13 grandchildren, her 18 great-grandchildren; and her special pet and friend, Sam Brown.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2008, in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with Dwight Hanes and Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, December 9, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m.
