Bennett, Lillie Dale Alfred

amem_hummingbird2.jpgLillie Dale Alfred Bennett, passed over into heaven at the age of 93 on Friday, March 31, 2006, at her son’s home in North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Dallas Ford Bennett, Sr.; and her two daughters, Jo Marie Kanode and Ruby Agee.

Lillie spent nearly 50 years serving as a pastor’s wife, while also working as a Nurse’s Aide at New Altamont Hospital in Christiansburg, Virginia and also at St. Albans Hospital of Radford, Virginia.

She had a deep love for the Lord and an unshakable faith in His powers. She was a member of Harbor of Hope Pentecostal Holiness Church in Christiansburg for 53 years. One of the great joys of her life was attending Camp Meeting at the Appalachian Conference Pentecostal Holiness Headquarters in Dublin, Virginia until her health would no longer allow her to attend.

She is survived by her three sons, Herb and Julia Bennett of Christiansburg, Virginia, Dan and Nancy Bennett of Pierson, Florida and Dallas, Jr. and Geneva Bennett of Landis, North Carolina. She was blessed by 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one greatgreat-grandchild. Additionally, she is survived by a very special niece, Marie Bell, of Covington, Virginia.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at 11 a.m. in the Harbor of Hope Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Richard Kingrea officiating. Interment will follow in the Appalachian Conference Pentecostal Holiness Cemetery, Dublin.

Friends may call any time after 4 p.m. Monday at Harbor of Hope Pentecostal Holiness Church, 2720 Roanoke Street, NE, Christiansburg, and the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday evening at the church. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
