BANKS, Robert Warren
Robert Warren (Bob) Banks, 56, of Prague, The Czech Republic and formerly of Blacksburg, Va., and San Francisco, Calif., passed to the next life on Wednesday, January 18, 2006, after a lengthy, brave and courageous battle against hepatitis.
Bob was a well known Blacksburg character who enjoyed, to the delight of family and teachers, travel, while in high school, his many moments with Mr. Curtis Gray, much mischief, many friends, and a memorable poem as his final high school act.
He enjoyed international travel, the San Francisco Forty-niners, good times, gourmet food and cooking, fine wines and cigars, his part in the international music scene, and the companionship of his friends and loved ones.
His funeral was Friday morning, January 27, in Prague.
He leaves behind a sister and niece, Patty and Heather in California; many friends in San Francisco, New York City, L.A., Blacksburg, Prague, and around the world, including his friend and brother Bill McPherson; his beloved Borzoi dogs; his loved mother-in-law, Marie; and his wonderful, dear, and loving wife, Hana, the love and joy of his life. He taught many of love, grace and giving. He will never be forgotten by those that know and love him, and he lived life fully, decently, and well.
