Lawrence Maury (Preacher) Anderson, 77 of Rich Creek, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 23rd, 2018 at Heritage Hall nursing home in Rich Creek. He was born in Lurich (Giles County), Virginia on August 30th, 1940, and was the son of the late Tyler Eugene and Maude Turner Anderson.

In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald Allan Anderson and (infant) James Tyler Anderson; an infant sister, Terrial Lucille Anderson; and a nephew, Roger Allan Anderson.

A 1960 graduate of Narrows High School, he was employed at Virginia Tech, an avid Hokie fan, and a longtime member of Glen Lyn Christian Church. Left to cherish his memory are four sisters, Carol Wallace and husband Ralph of Gainesville, Georgia; Patsy Franklin and husband Jess of Charlottesville, Rebecca Ludwig of Rich Creek, and Jean Sosebee of Jacksonville, Florida; and a special sister-in-law, Loretta Anderson of Rich Creek. He is also survived by five nieces, three nephews, several cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with Rev. Aubrey Whitlow officiating. Burial will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Rich Creek. The family will receive friends at Riffe’s Funeral Chapel one hour prior to the funeral service.
