Hurt, Ruth Smith

Ruth Smith Hurt, age 87, of Blacksburg died, Saturday, December 31, 2016, at Oak Forest Health and Rehabilitation, Winston-Salem, N.C.
She was born in Montgomery County, Va. on April 14, 1929 to the late John and Mamie Surface Smith. She also preceded in death by her husband, Lance “Doc” Hurt, four brothers and a sister. She was a member of the Sunnyside Pentecostal Holiness Church.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Ray Marshall, of Winston-Salem, N.C., son, Danny Ray Hurt, Knoxville, TN., grandchildren, Brian Harris, Angela and Wes Shockley, Jennifer Phillips, six great-grandchildren, sisters, Edith Akers, Faye Price, brothers, Larry Smith, Wayne Smith, Curtis Smith, John Smith, numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Sunnyside Pentecostal Holiness Church. Interment will follow in the Smith Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Tuesday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home 150 Country Club Dr. SW., Blacksburg.
