Babcock, Marian Hess

Marian Elizabeth Hess Babcock, of Blacksburg, passed away into heaven Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Avery Babcock and her dear parents, Frank and Ruth Hess, of Flint, MI.

Marian is survived by her three children, Douglass Babcock and wife, Sandy, Janice Pignataro and husband, Robert, and Kathleen Strazzini; six grandchildren, Heather Woods, Mindy Yaeger, Timothy Strazzini, Susan Strazzini, Shelley Opila, and Kourtney Jones; ten great-grandchildren, Sydney and Delaney Woods, Emery Woods, Amberly Yaeger, Luca, Nigel, and Colton Strazzini.

Marian attended and enjoyed many of her grandchildren’s activities including swim meets, ballets, dance recitals, football, and baseball games, birthday parties and gymnastic meets. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Marian was a faithful and active choir member of the Methodist Church in every town she resided. Marian worked in data processing for General Motors in Flint, MI. She retired from GM in 1979 and moved to Tampa, FL to be near her three children.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. in the Blacksburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joe Carson officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:30 p.m. until service time at the church. Family has suggested a contribution to Montgomery County Humane Society in lieu of flowers.
