Wheeler, Russell Edward

Another member of the Greatest Generation passed away on Friday, November 18, 2016. Russell Edward Wheeler actively served during World War II in the United States Army with the Tenth Mountain Infantry in Italy.

A lifelong resident of Giles County, he was born on June 2nd, 1915. Russell was preceded in death by his wife, Rosetta Agee Wheeler; parents, Arthur M. Wheeler and Nora Richardson Wheeler, as well as his brothers, Arthur Lee, Erroll, Paul and Harry.

Russell co-owned A.M. Wheeler Furniture Company in Narrows with his brother, Arthur Lee, retiring in 1990. He adored Giles County, and contributed to community activities through the Narrows Kiwanis Club and First United Methodist Church.

In addition to his two sons, Gary (Patricia) and Kenneth, Russell is survived by a sister, Ruth Stinson; grandchildren, Michael, Brian (Nicole), Catherine (Jesse), Patricia Marie (Codin), and Mark (Melinda); four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. held Wednesday, November 30th, 2016 at First United Methodist Church in Narrows with the Rev. Doug Armstrong officiating. Private burial will follow.

The family will receive friends at First United Methodist Church Wednesday, November 30th from 10 a.m. until just prior to the service.
