Helms, Lacie Morgan
Lacie was 23 years old and a gifted, photographer, artist, fitness pro, athlete, humanitarian, and a free spirit searching for place to fly. Most of all, Lacie Mo was the most unconditionally caring, giving, loving person to ever grace this life.
Her passions were many. She loved her hats, her new “Mo Ties,” avocados and brown rice, her car, her friends and family, along with her sidekick, Tater. She loved deeply with no boundaries. She had place in her heart for those who struggled and cared far more about easing the pain of others or making someone’s day brighter, than she did for herself.
Lacie was the baby of four children, born July 24, 1993. Lacie was a scholarship collegiate athlete and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art, Sports Management and Communications from Bluefield College in December of 2013. She leaves behind her mother and father, Mark and Kym Helms, her sister, Kelsea Helms, two brothers, Jesse and Casey Helms, a sister in law, Megan Shepphard and her niece, Skyler Helms. She also leaves her grandparents, Rudy & Hilda Helms, Barbara Long and great grandmother, Georgia Mae Sexton, her Aunt Penny White and Karen Keith, along with her uncle Roger White and cousins Parker White, Hunter Maddy, Benjamin Keith, Bleu Anderson and many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins in Virginia and Tennessee. She has joined her Aunt Terry Helms & Grandpa Burl Long, in the next chapter of her life, forever free.
She also leaves thousands upon thousands of loyal friends and Instagram, Twitter and Facebook friends who watched her share, celebrate, struggle and most of all give the gift of hope, love and inspiration, which is what she did best.
She lived life to the fullest and shared her love with everyone, daily. She was so strong, yet so fragile and innocent in so many ways. She had so much to give, that she was called to a higher purpose, where her pain is gone and she can touch far more lives, than she ever could in this physical world. Her job here is done and she is finally free to BE Lacie Mo. Her legacy will come in her passing, as people remember to take care of one another, let disagreements go and just LOVE unconditionally, like Lacie always did. May you all be inspired by her life, not her death to forgive without question, to experience the miracles of each and every day, to cherish those you hold close and feel the JOY of the life Lacie led.
Fly free, sweet and happy Lacie Mo. Life will never be the same without you, but your life story in deeds and pictures, will be our inspiration to honor you and pay your love forward…until we see you again!
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held Tuesday evening at McCoy Funeral Home in Blacksburg, VA. Tuesday, November 22 from 5-7 pm, with a short service to follow. Please check their website for further details.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations of unwrapped toys and items for needy children and teens of the New River Valley or a donation of Dog Food for the Humane Society, as Lacie would have wanted. Collection boxes will be available the evening of her Celebration of Life.
