Coalson, Jack Lee
Jack Lee Coalson, 76, of Beaverton, Ore., passed away October 25, 2016. He was born in Radford on July 27, 1940, the son of the late Oble P. and Geraldine Viers Coalson.
He grew up in Radford and it is where he met and eventually married his wife Mary Louis Thornton, May 5, 1959. Jack graduated from Virginia Tech University in 1964 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He worked for the next 35 years for Hercules Industries which led him and his family to Oregon in 1979. Jack was a sports enthusiast, spending his free time camping, fishing, supporting his kids, and following his Virginia Tech Hokies. Jack also enjoyed traveling and he and Mary Louis were fortunate to visit various parts of Europe and South America.
Jack was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and is survived by his wife, Mary Louis; two sons, Chris and Jay; daughter, Lani; and seven grandchildren, who always loved their time with “Papa.”
Jack passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer. Jack’s life was remembered and celebrated in a private ceremony with family and friends in Beaverton, Ore. on October 30, 2016.
