Colpitts, Terence James

Dr. Terence James (Terry) Colpitts, age 60, of Blacksburg died, Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at his home. He was born in Portland, Ore. on January 17, 1956 to the late Jim and Trudy Colpitts.

He served in the United States Coast Guard prior to attending college at the University of North Carolina where he received his B.S. degree, and his Medical degree. Terry worked as an E.R. Doctor for over 30 years at Montgomery Regional Hospital as well as many of the surrounding local hospitals. He was an outdoor enthusiast who loved adventure sports and travel. Terry enjoyed traveling with his family, especially skiing and scuba diving trips. He loved art, woodworking, and spending many hours in the garden.

He is survived by his wife, Alisa; daughter, Alaina; sons, Lucas and Justin; special four-legged companions, Leo, Lucy, and Gimli; sister and brother-in-law, Jenny and Brian Bunch of High Point, N.C.; brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Shirley Colpitts of Durham, N.C.; nieces and nephews, Laura, Emily, Drew, Ryan, and Jamie; mother-in-law, Patricia Smith; and brother-in-law, Bobby Moore.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr. S.W. Blacksburg, Va. A Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. conducted Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the Heritage Park Glade Shelter, 2300 Glade Rd, Blacksburg, with Dr. Tommy McDearis officiating. A reception will be held immediately following the service at Glade Road Growing, 2351 Glade Rd.
