Smith, Herman Ray

Herman Ray Smith, age 63, of Riner, died, Saturday, October 22, 2016, at Newbern, Va. at a tractor pull. Herman went peacefully doing what he loved.

He is preceded in death by his father, Eldridge Smith, mother, Peggy Smith, infant daughter, Emily Smith, infant son, Brian Smith. He was a loving devoted husband and father.

Herman loved to ride his motorcycle on fundraising events. His last and most beautiful ride was at Myrtle Beach with his wife, family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Nannie Gallimore Smith, sons and daughter-in-law, Andrew Smith, Jeremy Smith and wife, Penny , foster daughter, Christy Smith, brother, Bobby Smith and wife, Brenda, sister, Mary Smith Roach-Anderson and husband, Greg, grandchildren, Shawn, Tiffany, Drew, Ariel, Amber, Christopher and Brandon, great grandchild, Zoie, many nieces and nephews, special friend, Charlene Cox.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at 2:00 pm in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chuck Pauley and Rev. Jimmy Kittinger officiating. Entombment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society 2840 Electric Road, Suite 106A, Roanoke, Va. 24018. Per Herman’s request blue jean attire will be appreciated. The family will receive friends from 12-2:00 pm Tuesday afternoon prior to the service at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr. SW, Blacksburg.
