Gearhart, Charles David

Charles David Gearhart, 68, of Dublin, formerly of Princeton, died suddenly early Monday afternoon, October 17, 2016 doing what he loved to do best, leaning a hand to his neighbor. Born October 25, 1947 in Princeton, he was the son of the late Sebert Gearhart and Josephine Curto Gearhart.

Charles was a graduate of Princeton High School and a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict serving with the United States Marine Corp. He was a successful businessman, having owned and operated Gearhart Refrigeration and other businesses with Mercer County. He was a proud member of the Mercer County Honor Guard for many years and a member of the Marine Corp League. While living in Princeton, he was an active member of Burke Baptist Church in Princeton where he served in various capacities within the life of the church.

After moving to Virginia, Charles was an active with the Max Creek Baptist Church at Draper where he served in a very active role with the visitation program of the church. He was a member of the 10 cent millionaire club. Charles will be remembered for being a loving and caring person, his family always came first and he wore a smile on his face at all times.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Goldie Christine Haynes Gearhart (Chris) along with two sons, Charles D. Gearhart Jr. and David Kevin Gearhart.Charles is survived by two loving and devoted daughters, Amy Lynn Weaver and husband Steve of Roanoke, Rhonda Gearhart of Charlottesville and Terry Walls of Ruckersville; four grandchildren, Kailey Olinger and husband Dylan, Karsen Walls and fiancé Chris, Kinsley Walls and Kambri Weaver; and one great-granddaughter, Addyson Olinger; and a great-granddaughter that will arrive in January by the name of Everly Belle Olinger; and special friend and companion Nancy Rebecca Newton.

We will celebrate the wonderful life of Charlie Gearhart on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 2 p.m. from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastors Charlie Drake and Mike Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with military honors given under the direction of the Mercer County Honor Guard. Members of the Mountaineers Marine Corp League Detachment # 957 will serve as pallbearers.
