Combs, Audrey Jon

Audrey Jon Combs, age 88, of Blacksburg, died Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery. She was born in South Dakota on May 17, 1928 to the late George Sutcliff and Myrtle Currier Barnes.

She is survived by a daughter, Rebecca (George) Daniels of Blacksburg and a son, Robert (Beverly) Combs of Fernandina Beach, Florida. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Richard, her husband of 58 years, and a daughter, Melanie Combs Seus.

As an adult, Audrey lived primarily in Indiana and Florida, but enjoyed being a resident of the New River Valley over the past nearly seven years. In particular, she enjoyed the many friendships and kindnesses shown by the staff and fellow residents at the Showalter Center of Warm Hearth Village in Blacksburg. The family also wishes to expresses their deep appreciation for the care and kindnesses shown by the staff at Lewis Gale Hospital- Montgomery during her last days.

Audrey had a life-long passion for music, books, church, service, family and friends. She brought zest and energy to all her interactions, and left a positive impact on the many lives and organizations she touched.

Audrey will be celebrated by her family in a memorial service to be held Sunday, October 23 at Warm Hearth Village, Blacksburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the Warm Hearth Foundation. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
