Atkins, Linda Jewel Viers
Linda Jewel Viers Atkins, 69, of Hiwassee, surrounded by her family went to her heavenly home on Saturday October 8, 2016. Born on October 20, 1946 she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Mary Jarrells Viers.
She is preceded in death by two brothers; Herman Viers and Edd Viers, three sisters; Margaret Hicks, Louise Dickerson and Elizabeth McCambridge.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Gilbert Atkins, two sons and daughter- in-laws Todd and Stacey Atkins, Justin and Tessa Atkins; one daughter and son-in-law Valerie and Neal Huff; two grandchildren Regean Atkins Phillips, MaHayle and Matt Mabry, one great-grandchild MaKenna Mabry; two step grandchildren and spouses Stacie and Josh Yaunsem, Eric and Miranda Huff; five step great-grandchildren Ezra and Lucas Yaunsem, Carlyssa Sisson, Marissa and Makenna Huff; brother and sister-in-law John and Mildred Viers; one aunt, Bernice Parnell and many special nieces, nephews and cousins.
Linda loved the Lord and was a faithful member of the Hiwassee Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she served in various roles; Sunday school superintendant, deaconess, board member, Sunday school teacher, and helped coordinate the women’s ministry and the young girls programs. She loved to talk about God and the bible. Linda loved her family and she was a wonderful wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, crafts and spending time with her family. She was a quilter with the Quilting Ladies that met at Cecil’s Chapel Church.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Lewis Gale Regional Cancer Center of Pulaski, the Infusion Center at Lewis Gale, Lewis Gale Pulaski Hospital and Good Samaritans Hospice.
Funeral service will be 11:00 am, Wednesday October 12 at Draper Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church, Max Meadows, Virginia with Rev. Don Scott and Rev. Don Sizemore officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin, Virginia. Visitation with family and friends will be 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Tuesday October 11 at Draper Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church.
