James Thomas “Tom” Owen, Jr., 76, of Dublin, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2016. He was a member of Dublin United Methodist Church. He was a teacher with Pulaski County Schools for 15 years and retired from New River Community College as Job Placement Coordinator with 23 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James, Sr. “Tom” and Helen Cole Owen; two brothers, Fred and Marshall Owen; brother-in-law, Vernon Shanholtz.

Survivors include his wife, Eva M. Owen of Dublin; son and daughter-in-law, Brian Thomas “B.T.” and Michelle Owen of Kernersville, N.C.; grandson, Jacob Ryan Owen; grand daughter, Emily Paige Owen; nephews and their spouses, Jerry and Joyce Owen of Dublin, and Ricky and Linda Owen of Texas; niece and her husband, Martha and Charles Damron of New River; and sisters-in-law, Mary Shanholtz and Catherine Cox and husband Butch White.

The family will receive friends from 12 until 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the Dublin United Methodist Church. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. with Rev. Don Henshew officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin.
