Simpkins, Janet Linkous

Janet Linkous Simpkins, 74, of Radford, passed away Friday, October 2, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benny W. Simpkins, daughter, Deborah N. McDaniel, mother, Kate A. Linkous, brother, Donald W. Linkous, and sister, Anna Adell Garigliano.

Survivors include four children and their spouses, Benny W. Simpkins, Jr., Vonda S. and Phillip Griffitts and Roger L. and Jessie Simpkins all of Radford, and Wanda and Bill Holifield of Roanoke; a brother, Robert F. Linkous of Blacksburg; three sisters and brother-in-law, Freeda Linkous and Linda Elliott, both of Blacksburg, and Peggy and Melvin Sawyer of Gloucester; 10 grandchildren, Kim Allen, Kari McDaniel, Kody McDaniel, Whitney McDaniel, Chasidy Simpkins, Jordan Griffitts, Hunter Griffitts, Parker Griffitts, Kelly Gravley and Deanna Holifield; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 5, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with the Rev. David Ansley officiating. Interment will follow in the Simpkins Family Cemetery in Snowville. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
