Radford, Jewel Miller

radford_jewel_millerJewel Miller Radford, 78, of Ripplemead, VA passed away, Sunday, August 28, 2016 at his home. Born May 26, 1938 at Pembroke, VA he was the son of the late Kemper Lee and Edna Mae Williams Radford.

Jewel was retired after 20 years of service from Virginia Tech as a Maintenance Supervisor. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and had attended Concord College where he played football and baseball.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Azell Radford and a brother, William Powell Radford. Survivors include his loving wife, Phyllis Marie Cole Radford, son, Gary Van Radford and wife Kimberly of Blacksburg, VA, daughters, Sonya Meekins of Pembroke, VA and Monica Jewel Bailey and husband Darrick of Fayetteville, NC, brother, Donald Lee Radford of Pembroke and sister, Nannie Lou Martin also of Pembroke, six grandchildren and several friends.

Graveside service will be 4:00 PM, Thursday, September 1, 2016 at the Woodcutters Lodge, Ripplemead, VA with Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Jewel’s home by 3:00 PM, Thursday. Friends may gather at the home all week.
