Quessenberry, Ulysses “Buck”

quessenberry_ulysses_leeUlysses Lee “Buck” Quessenberry, 86, of Glen Lyn and Salem, departed this life Saturday morning, August 20, 2016, in the care of the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Salem. Born October 9, 1929 at Coaldale, W.Va., he was a son of the late Joseph Edward and Laura Rogers Quesenberry.

Buck was a veteran of the United States Army, Korean War, a carpenter by trade, and a member of the VFW and DAV.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Chadric Robertson; his brothers, Joseph Jr. Quesenberry, Tommy Quesenberry, Stanley Quesenberry, Michael Quesenberry; his sister and brother-in-law, Clara and William Caldwell.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 61 years, Mildred Blankenship Quesenberry; his son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Mary Jane Quesenberry of Pembroke; his daughters and son-in-law, Sherry and Kevin Medley of New Castle, and Terry Robertson of Virginia Beach; his sisters, Ellen Hartman of Willis, and Carol Thorn of Salem; his seven grandchildren, his five great-grandchildren and his great-great-grandson.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, August 22, 2016, in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke, with burial following in Westview Cemetery in Blacksburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday. Graveside military honors will be presented by local American Legion and VFW Posts.
