Saunders, Arthur Brown

Arthur Brown Saunders, age 92, of Blacksburg died, Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at Heritage Hall Rich Creek. He was born in Newport, Va. on March 9, 1924 to the late John Burton and Lizzie Snow Lucas Saunders.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Maude A. Saunders, son, Allen Brown Saunders, sister and brother-in-law, Edna and Charlie Myers, brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Iva Saunders.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Arnita S. and John Perfater, Machell S. and Jay M. Schmolitz, all of Blacksburg, son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Sylvia Saunders, Eggleston, grandchildren, Jay and Jennifer Perfater, Scott and Ginny Perfater, Adam and Gola Perfater, Michael Schmolitz, Melanie Schmolitz, Vivian Saunders; great-grandchildren, Brendan, Cameron, Julianna, Amyha and Arabella. Also left to cherish his memory are his extended family, church friends and neighbors.

The family wishes to give special thanks to the skilled and caring staff at Heritage Hall, Rich Creek.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 2:00 pm in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tony Robertson and Rev. Kenny Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Henry Allen Family Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to “McDonalds Mill Methodist Church”, 121 Woodman Ave. New Castle, Va. 24127 c/o N. Davis.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 pm Saturday afternoon at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr. SW, Blacksburg.
