Rush, Richard Edward

Richard Edward Rush, 90, of Christiansburg, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2016. He was born on September 20, 1925, to the late James and Maggie Rush in Cambria. He married Ethel Houston in 1946.

Richard was retired from Norfolk Western Railroad after 30 years of service and served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He was a great man who took care of his family and proudly served his country.

Richard was also preceded in death by his wife, Ethel; brother, Alan Ray Rush; and sister, Nora. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Michael (Diane), Larry (Donna), Jerry (Jean), David (Becky), and Sonji Dellinger; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; brother and sisters, Dorothy Cunningham, Glenna Sevy (Bill), and Jimmy Rush; and special friend, Libby.

The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at Fairlawn Baptist Church, Fairlawn. The Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m., with Pastor Gregory Harrell officiating. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg.
