Survivors include one son, Steven Mitchell and wife, Linda, of Maryland; grandchildren, Heather M. Mills, and Heath Mitchell; nieces, Katie Mitchell, Sue Nolen, and Nancy Costigan; and nephews, Wayne, John, and Mike Mitchell. A Veteran of the United States Army, Jack loved to collect, buy, and sell old newspapers and documents. His “claim” to fame was that he had one of the largest newspaper collections in America. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 6, 2011 at 10 a.m. with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Maberry’s Funeral Home in Floyd with the Rev. Richard Gregory officiating.
