Poore, Bennie Buford

Bennie Buford Poore, 75, of Snowville, Va., passed away on Monday, August 3, 2009, in the Veterans Hospital, Salem, Va. Born in Columbus, Ga., he was the son of the late Horace Greely and Ruth Hopkins Poore.

Bennie retired from the United States Air Force as a Sergeant and then from the Defense Department.

Surviving are his wife, Byrd M. Poore; daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Al Poole and Bonny and Wendell Huddleston; son and daughter in-law, Gary and Nancy Poore; stepson and wife, Keith and Simin Hall; stepdaughters and husband, Melissah Hall, Johnna Hall, and Deborah and Patrick Pace; sister, Melanie Rogers; five grandchildren; five step grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren.

Mr. Poore’s wishes were to be cremated. A memorial graveside service will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2009, from the Hall family cemetery, Snowville with the Rev. Charlie Henderson officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the VFW Post #1184 of Pulaski.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials be sent to the Snowville Volunteer Fire Department, 4855 Lead Mines Road, Hiwassee, Va. 24347.
