Manning, Dewey Franklin
Dewey Franklin Manning, 72, of Goldbond, Va., departed this life Wednesday, July 29, 2009. Born in McComas, W.Va. on April 12, 1937, he was a son of the late Charles Taylor Manning and Annie Kate Lucas Manning.
Dewey was raised in the faith of the Olean Church of the Brethren, was proud to be a member of Eggleston Lodge No. 309 AF & AM, had worked as a foreman at A P Green Lime Co Kimballton Plant and RAAP.
He was preceded in death by his son, Steve Edwin Manning; his brother, Charles Henry Manning; and his sisters, Sarah Pippin, Virgie Snider, Helen Osborne and Cardella Brown. He leaves to cherish his memory, his son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Sherry Manning, of Goldbond; his daughter and son in-law, Pamela M. and William Davis, of Cashmere, W.Va.; his sister, Ella Mae and husband, Dewey Day, of Big Stony Creek; his brother, Ricky Manning, of Pembroke; grandchildren, Tammy, Crystal, Jessica, Crystal, Chris, Josh, Del, and a special little granddaughter, Sarah Anne; his four great-grandchildren; his two great-great-grandchildren; his sisters-in-law, Annie Manning, of Ohio, Geanette Rust, of Saltville, Vivian and Ralph Simmons, of Cincinnati, Ohio; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with burial following in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. A Masonic Service will be conducted at 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
