Langford, Beverly Sutherland
Beverly Sutherland Langford, age 69, of Blacksburg went to be with her LORD, February 29, 2016 at the Kroontje Health Care Center at Warm Hearth Village after a short battle with cancer. Beverly was born in the back seat of her parents’ car on the way to the hospital in Huntington, West Virginia on December 01, 1946.
Her parents were the late Malcolm Graham Sutherland and Elsie Shortridge Sutherland of Matewan WV.
Beverly was a dedicated stay-at-home mother to the family and a lifelong Christian. She was a member of The Bridge Foursquare Church in Christiansburg. While attending Magnolia High School in Matewan, she was an accomplished clarinetist and a member of the West Virginia All-State Band. She graduated from Marshall University in 1970 with a B.A. degree. She loved to read and enjoyed sewing and other forms of needlework.
She is survived by her husband of almost 43 years, Richard Dale Langford, whom she met on a blind date to a Halloween party; their two sons Michael and wife Marya Langford of Arizona and Jeffrey and wife Beverly Langford of Christiansburg, Sister-in-law Beverly Sutherland of Georgia, two grandchildren, Maxwell, and Mackenzie and two step-grandchildren, Jackson and Bianca as well as nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 1:00 pm in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Memorial Gardens of the New River Valley. The family will receive friends 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm Wednesday at McCoy Funeral Home 150 Country Club Drive SW, Blacksburg.
