Croy, Nedra A.

Nedra A. Croy, of Blacksburg, died January 16, 2016. On January 10, 1932 in McCoy, VA, Nedra Hope Albert was born to the late William H. and Van Hope Albert. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Curtis, Wayne, and Francis Albert. Also preceding her was a very special brother-in-law, John D. Pauley and her precious great-grand daughter, Maelie Elizabeth Nagle.

Left to cherish her memory is her elementary and high school sweetheart and husband of 62 years, Don Croy, her daughter Donita Price and husband Art, her son Chris and wife, Diane Thompson Croy. Grandchildren, Hope Velickovic and husband, Ivan; Maddie Duke and husband David; Mary Nagle and husband Zach, and Mychal Thompson. Her precious great grandchildren, Olivia V., Landon N., Emmie D., and 4 day old, Zoe N. Also, cherishing her memory are sisters, Susie Vest and Mary Nell Pauley; several nieces and nephews.

Nedra graduated Blacksburg High School in 1949 and went to work at the National Bank of Blacksburg where she worked for 10 years until retiring to follow her heart’s desire of staying home and caring for her husband, children and home. Although living in Blacksburg for 62 years, Nedra’s heart never left McCoy. She was a charter member of McCoy Christian Church where she was active for many years teaching and singing with her sweet alto voice.

Her family would like to thank the doctors who have taken care her. They are: Dr. Jesse Davidson, Dr. Bhairvi Trivedi, Dr. Richard Shepherd, Dr. William Cox, Dr. Isaac Spence, Dr. Jerome Goldschmidt, and the staff of the Blue Ridge Cancer Center and the several nurses at Lewis Gale Hospital, including Aledia Santos and Nurse Supervisor and very special neice, Sherry Sonnessa. The family would also like to thank Dr. Harry McCoy for the special loving care he gave to their wife and mother.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 11:00 am Community Christian Church in McCoy with Mr. David Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Albert Family Cemetery. McCoy. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5pm to 7pm at McCoy Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Grundy Mountain Mission School, in care of Community Christian Church in McCoy or to the American Cancer Society.
