Gathercole, Erma Mae Akers

Erma Mae Akers Gathercole, 90, widow of James E. Gathercole, died Wednesday, December 30, 2015. Born in Floyd County, VA, she was the daughter of the late E. Zebrum and Minnie A. Reed Akers. Mrs. Gathercole was retired from the Roanoke County School System.

Surviving are a daughter, Sandra Arnold; grandson, Jarred W. Arnold; two great grandchildren, Hannah Arnold and Collin Arnold and wife, Lexi; and a great great granddaughter, Paisley Arnold, all of Greenville, SC.

Visitation will be held Sunday, January 3, 2016 from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Downtown Chapel. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.thomasmcafee.com.
