Price, Cecelia Marie

Cecelia Marie Price, 86, of Blacksburg, Va., and Salem, Va., passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at the Montgomery Regional Hospital.

Born in Bristol, R.I., she worked as a telephone operator for New England Bell and as a secretary for the Naval Department at the Torpedo Station in Newport, R.I., during World War II. After that, she became a homemaker and assisted her husband in managing the family’s rental properties in Blacksburg.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Marshall Price. She is survived by her son, Robert Price II and daughterin-law, Brenda Price, of Blacksburg; and her daughter, Patricia Price, of Salem. Her family also includes her grandson, David Price and his fiance, Helen Garbak; one great-granddaughter, Lucy Smith-Price; and one deceased grandson, Michael Price. She was the daughter of the late John and Julia Ferreira, of Portsmouth, R.I. Her brothers and sisters include John Ferreira, Evelyn Rudisell, Raymond Ferreira, Lorraine McBride, Lydia Ferrell, Edward Ferreira, and the late Henry Ferreira, all of Portsmouth, R.I.

A memorial mass will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2009, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Blacksburg with Father James Arsenault officiating. The family will receive friends at a brief reception following the service in the church parish hall.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Christiansburg office of Blue Ridge Cancer Care for their years of service to Cecelia.
