Damant, Horace D.
Horace (Harry) D. Damant, 84, of Blacksburg, passed away the Morning of May 9, 2006 at the Montgomery Regional Hospital.
Harry served as Director of Printing Services at Virginia Tech. He retired in 1985 after serving 18 years. He was born in Jerome, Arizona in 1922. He served his country in the Navy during World War II. He was an avid outdoorsman, tennis player and golfer his entire life. His passion was to play his piano. He was a member of the Blacksburg Presbyterian Church, Blacksburg Country Club and the Blacksburg Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Harriet F. Gowdy Damant; two sons, Brian D. (Virginia) of Columbus, Ohio and Dennis G. (Elisabeth) of Gloucester Point, Virginia; and two grandchildren, B. David, Jr. and Michelle M. He was predeceased by his sister, Eunice Damant Burgess of Whiting, New Jersey.
A memorial service will be held May 10, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Blacksburg Presbyterian Church, 701 Church Street, Blacksburg, Va. 24060. The family will receive friends following the service. Burial will private.

I have found a naval blue jackets manual from 1943 that might have belonged to Mr. Adamant. I’m trying to get in touch with his family.
