Blackwell, Wilson Harvey

Wilson Harvey Blackwell began his earthly journey in Floyd County, on January 27, 1919, as the youngest child of William Isaac and Eliza Blackwell. He loved and is loved by his family more than any human could imagine. Next to his family, his joy and passion was his farm, land, and cattle.

He was a World War II veteran having served in the Army Air Corp as an airplane mechanic. His earthly journey ended Wednesday, October 14, 2015, when God came and took him home.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife and best friend for more than 64 years, Jaqueline Poff Blackwell; and daughters, Carolyn (and Doug) Sneed, Annette Blackwell, and Yvonne Blackwell; grandson, Dan DeMartin (and Edina); great-grandchildren, Hunter and Andrianna Demartin. He is also survived by several brother and sister in-laws; nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the Carilion Hospice staff and his caregiver, Sandra Hartman.

Funeral Services will be Sunday October 18, 2015, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Roy Turpin officiating. Interment will follow in Restvale Cemetery (Head-of-the-River), Check, Va.
