Hare, Ethel Wallace
Ethel Wallace Hare, 83, of Richmond, Virginia, formerly of Narrows, Virginia, died Tuesday, May 2, 2006.
She was born February 24, 1923 at Zenith, West Virginia and was the daughter of the late William Grover and Myrtle Elizabeth Canterbury Wallace. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Clarence Hare; three brothers, Dewey Wallace, Grover Wallace, and Kenneth Wallace.
At age 45, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Pulaski General Hospital School of Nursing and served as an LPN for several years. In addition, she was a volunteer at Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital, held various offices in the Giles Homemaker’s Club, and was an assistant leader of the Girl Scouts. She was a charter member of the Pearisburg Seventh Day Adventist Church, serving as District President of Community Services, and at the time of her death a member of the Far West End Seventh Day Adventist Church in Richmond.
She is survived by a daughter and her husband, April and Steve Yates of Powhatan, Virginia; one son and his wife, Joseph and Pam Hare of Henrico County, Virginia; one sister, Betty Wallace Callahan of Hanover, Maryland; three granddaughters, Rhonda Yates Hendon of Nashville, Tennessee, Laura H. Hare and Kristen E. Hare, both of Henrico County; one great-granddaughter, Riley Jane Wallace Hendon of Nashville.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 5, 2006 at 11 a.m. in Birchlawn Abbey in Pearisburg, Virginia with Dr. Robert Banks and Pastor Daniel Royo officiating.
