Hackett, Joseph Tyler

Joseph Tyler Hackett, 23, of Blacksburg, Va., and Franklin, Tenn., joined the Lord on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009, in Nashville, Tenn. He was born in Blacksburg, Va., on July 20, 1985.

He is preceded is death by his maternal grandfather and fishing buddy, H. Curtis Ayers; and paternal grandfather, James E. Hackett. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served a year in Iraq and achieved the rank of sergeant, and has joined his fellow soldiers who died in Iraq. He was currently a documentary film editor with the Charlie Daniels Band.

He is survived by his parents, Philip W. “Phil” and Connie Ayers Hackett, of Franklin, Tenn.; two sisters, Sarah H. and Brandon Maxwell, and their daughter, Grace Elizabeth Maxwell, all of Franklin, Tenn., and Anna Liljenvall, Sweden; maternal grandmother, Nancy K. Ayers, of Blacksburg, Va.; paternal grandmother and stepgrandfather, Evelyn J. and Richard Hire, of Englewood, Fla.; uncles and aunts, Stephen and Karen Ayers, of Blacksburg, Lisa and Greg Burgess, of Franklin, Tenn., Michael and Cynthia Hackett, of Indianapolis, Ind., and Sharon and Ron Harless, of Clarksville, Ind.; and numerous cousins.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to David Corlew and The Charlie Daniels Band.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2009, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Tommy McDearis, Dr. Don McKinney, the Rev. Jeremy Rasor and the Rev. Todd Millsaps officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg, Va.

Friends may call any time after noon on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr., S.W., Blacksburg, Va.
