Hills, Lona Groseclose

Lona Laverne Groseclose Hills, 81, of Dublin, Va., formerly of Wythe County, Va., passed away Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015. She was born in Wythe County, the daughter of the late William Emory and Cora Lee Blessing Groseclose.

She was a member of the Peppers Ferry Pentecostal Holiness Church.

She was preceded in death by five sisters, Dot Surratt, Virgie Cox, Lillian Bralley, Pearl Corvin and Margaret Hall; and one brother, Roy Groseclose.

Lona is survived by a daughter, Debi Johnson of Dublin; a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Susan Hills of Wytheville, Va.; a sister, Joy Umberger of Wytheville; a brother and sister-in-law, Pete and Mary Grace Groseclose; special friends and caregivers; and several nieces, nephews and extended family.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, at Barnett Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Doug Hyndich officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethany Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
