Reed, Mary George

Mary George Reed, 67, of Circle Drive in Pembroke, Va., departed this life to be with her Lord on Thursday, April 9, 2009, at Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg after a long battle with cancer. Born in Thessalia, Giles County, Va., on November 29, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Ballard Jackson and Oice Harris Fortner. She was a devout Christian, a member of Olean Church of The Brethren, a caregiver to many and was retired from Celanese Plant at Narrows with over 33 years service. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Reed Jr.; her father and mother-in-law, Paul Sr. and Angela Wimmer Reed; her sisters, Ollie St.Clair, Mable Helms, Irene Billings, and Clara Bassett; and her sister-in-law, Nancy Reed. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Steven and Doris Reed, of Dublin, Tony and Debbie Reed, of Pearisburg, Ben Reed and fianc�e, Kristi St.Clair, of Eggleston, Jamie Reed, of Pembroke, and Wendy Reed, daughter and best friend, and fiance, Dwayne Heinlein; her 14 grandchildren; her greatgranddaughter; her sisters, Hazel Stanley, of Narrows, Lula Ingle, of Randleman, N.C., Hattie Collins, of Pearisburg, Dot Alexander, of Richmond, Jean Fulcher, of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Christine Delk, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; her daughter-in-law and prayer partner, Sharron Reed; her sister-in-law and special friend, Teresa Reed; and her brotherin-law, Gary Reed. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2009, in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with Pastor Rodger Boothe and Pastor Michael Tabor officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.
