Kast, Sr., Paul Joseph Sr.

Paul Joseph Kast, Sr. (Mountain Man), 65, of Mash Branch Lane at Goldbond, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ from his home in the loving care of his family on Sunday afternoon, April 23, 2006.

Born in Kerns, Va. on April 5, 1941, he was a son of Alice Louise Lafon Kast of the Clendennin Community at Narrows and the late Clarence Joseph Kast, Sr.

Paul was retired from Mundy Construction at the Celanese Celco Plant and was an avid hunter and gardener. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Martin; and twin siblings, Carolyn Christine and Norman Eugene Kast.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Sharon Smith Kast; a son, Paul Joseph Kast, Jr. and his friend, Donna Kinder, and her children of Goldbond; his daughter, Laura Neal and her husband, Michial of Lynchburg; four grandchildren, Sarah Smith of Roanoke, Andrea Kast of Goldbond, Ryan and Rheanna Neal of Lynchburg; one great-grandchild, Cedric Jones; four brothers, Richard Kast and wife, Wanda of Pearisburg, Memphis Kast and friend, Betty Vincel of Narrows, Arnold Kast and friend, Connie Kelley of Narrows, Clarence Kast, Jr. and wife, Penny of Narrows; four sisters, Rachel Take and husband, Ray of Narrows, Janet Bachelder and husband, Tony of Strong, Maine, Barbara Elliott and husband, Dennis of Narrows, Gloria Kast of Narrows; many nieces and nephews; beloved in-laws, Robert J. and Sharon Smith, Joyce and Tom Stevens, Glen P. and Doris Smith, Russell and Ginger Smith, Richard and Jeannie Smith, Tena and Dennis Rhodes and Dennis Smith.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in the Kast Cemetery at Goldbond.
