Wells, Betty Jo Oliver

Betty Jo Oliver Wells, age 79, of Elliston died, Thursday, July 9, 2015, at her home. She was born in Roanoke, Va. on September 25, 1935 to the late George Wesley and Florence Barnett Oliver.

She is also preceded in death by a son, Lonnie Edward Wells, and a great granddaughter, Emma Wright, brothers, Russell Oliver, Stearl Oliver, Hubert Oliver, Lester Oliver, Roy Oliver, sisters, Lelia Austin, Thelma Coleman, Lorraine Hodges, Annabelle Akers, Edith Oliver.

She was an active member of Riverview Holiness Church where she played the piano for many years. Most recently she was a member of Lighthouse Full Gospel Church, Roanoke, Va.

She is survived by her husband, Charles William (Billy) Wells, Sr., sons and daughters-in-law, Charles W., Jr. and Linda Wells, Elliston, Gerald W. and Sandy Wells, Elliston, daughters and sons-in-law, Gana W. and Danny Reed, Elliston, Anita Sue and Ralph Keen, Austinville, Veronda L. and Raul Zaga, Salem, fifteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives; a special close friend, Ricky Smith.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Good Samaritan Hospice, especially Kattie Hale, for their care during Mrs. Wells’ illness.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, July 13, 2015 at 11:00 am in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Shaffer officiating. Interment will follow in the Halls Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4:00 pm Sunday afternoon at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr., SW, Blacksburg.
