Reynolds, Johan B.

Johan B. Reynolds, 97, of Newport and Blacksburg, passed away, Sunday, July 5, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Paul Reynolds, her parents, John Brown and Catherine McIntyre McFadyen Brown, her brother, John Brown, Jr., her sisters, Janet Hill Ruhl, Jean Crawford Mathieson, and Kathy McIntyre Brown; her step-sons, William Joseph Reynolds and John Eugene Reynolds, her nephew, Paul Allen Mathieson.

Johan is survived by the daughter of her heart, Sue Reynolds and her husband, Sam Reynolds; their children, Chris Reynolds and his wife, Amy, Jennifer Wallace and her husband, Mike; a special Nana to Niki and Ben Reynolds, Zachary, Marcus, and Baylee Wallace; nephews, Donald Brown and his wife, Jeannie, John Frances Brown and his wife, Nancy, all of New York; a great niece, Christine Greene and her husband, Tom, of New York; a great nephew, D. J. Mathieson, of California.

Johan along with her husband loved farming their land. Through their entrepreneurship and generosity their land became an integral part of the growth of Blacksburg. Their leadership helped Blacksburg become the community that is today. She dedicated many years of service to Hercules and retired from there. She also donated her time by volunteering for the Red Cross and Free Clinic of Christiansburg. Along with hospitals in Homestead and Bradenton, FL.

Later, Johan loved to travel and enjoyed learning about other cultures. Her trips took her to Scotland, Italy, Australia, Hawaii, Greece, and China. Her love for her family, fine dining and fellowship were hallmarks of her life.

A special thank you to her friends and the staff at Cozy Home Haven in Radford for making her feel loved and well cared for. Johan was passionate is her support of many charities. The family would appreciate that any memorials in her honor be given to the Alzheimer’s Association, Central and Western Virginia Chapter, 1160 Pepsi Place, Suite 306, Charlottesville, VA 22901.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg, with Rev. Reggie Britts officiating. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
