Dowdy, Steven Dale

Steven Dale Dowdy, of Christiansburg, passed away May 17, 2015, at 53 years of age. He was a graduate of Blacksburg High School and part owner of Blacksburg Floor Fashions. Steve continued in the flooring business until his passing.

Steve was also a gifted designer, artist and craftsman. For himself, he built two houses with many custom features inside and outside. For friends and family, he created many unique works of art from wood. He enjoyed collecting antique locks, tools, flat irons and scales and had extensive collections of each.

Steve was predeceased by his mother, Sallie Thacker Dowdy, and many aunts and uncles. He is survived by his father, James (Jimmy) Lewis Dowdy, special cousins, Richard, Robin and Jeff, and many other cousins and friends. Throughout his life, Steve had many pet dogs and cats and is survived by two dogs and two cats.

Visitation of family and friends will be Wednesday, May 20, at the McCoy Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 pm. Funeral services will be Thursday, May 21st, at the McCoy Funeral Home at 11:00 am followed by interment at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Christiansburg.

In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to the Christiansburg Humane Society Animal Shelter at 1183 Flanagan Drive, Christiansburg VA 24073, or the Riner Volunteer Fire Department at 3171 Riner Road, Riner, VA 24149. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
