Casey, Jack
Jack Casey, 83, of Copper Hill, Va., and formerly of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2009, at his home surrounded by family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, John; his mother, Katherine; three brothers, Frank, Russell, and Jimmy; two sisters, Margaret Helen and Mary; and one grandson, Casey.
Jack was survived by his wife, Linda; his five children, John, Tom, Tony, David and Kim Butler; and his brother, Alfred. He was also survived by 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Jack served his country in the United States Army, 101st Airborne Division Paratroopers, during World War II. His division was a part of the Normandy invasion and helped to liberate concentration camps at the end of the war. Jack also loved to play golf with his friends at Great Oaks Country Club in Floyd County, Va.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2009, at the Copper Hill Church of the Brethren. The Reverend Maurice Wright and the Reverend J.R. Hughes will officiate the service.
