Thompson, Juanita Dickson Dent
Juanita Dickson Dent Thompson, 77, of Rich Creek, Va., and formerly of Rock Camp, W.Va., passed away on Monday, January 5, 2009, at Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital, Pearisburg, Va. Born March 25, 1931, at Keenan, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Fleet and Nina Givens Dickson.
Mrs. Thompson was formerly employed as a CNA at the Andrew S. Rowan Home; she was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #122, Union, W.Va., and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post #6000, Narrows, Va.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles “Sam” Dent; a baby daughter, Teresa Lynn Dent; a grandson, John Faulkner; two brothers, Roy and James Dickson; a stepson, Jack Thompson; and a stepdaughter, Lois Davis.
She is survived by her husband, John E. Thompson, of Rich Creek, Va.; one son, Charles Dent Jr. and wife, Judy, of Peterstown, W.Va.; two daughters, Vickie Faulkner, of Lindside, W.Va., and Connie Austin and husband, Raymond, of Clifton Forge, Va.; three sisters, Elizabeth Hazelwood, of Rock Camp, W.Va., Sue Wickline, of Union, W.Va., and Judy Ratliff, of Zenith, W.Va.; three step children, Tommy and Johnny Thompson, and Iretta Benafield; eight grandchildren, Jody, Jeannie, Bucky, Sam, April, Michael, Joe, and David; eight great-grandchildren, Gage, Raegan, Baylee, Tyler, Walynn, Savannah, Mason, and Brooklyn; eight step grandchildren, Pam, Terri, Rhonda, Gina, Marie, Samantha, Susan, and Lucretia; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 5 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2009, at the BroylesShrewsbury Funeral Home, Peterstown, W.Va., where a memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. by Pastor Shahn Wilburn and Pastor Terry Easter. Burial will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, January 9, 2009, at the Fairview Cemetery, Keenan, W.Va., with the grandsons serving as pallbearers.
Graveside Rites will be performed by the Eastern Star, Chapter #122. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Ill. 60601-7633.
