Mullins, Earl

Earl Mullins, 84, of 2281 Old Wolf Creek Road in Narrows, Va., passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 4, 2009, surrounded by his loved ones. Earl was born on June 7, 1924, at Blackey, Va., in Buchanan County and was the son of the late Edward and Geneva Grace Christian Mullins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Osa Ellen (Ocie) Baker Mullins; one sister, Berchie Mullins; one brother, Dearl Mullins, and a greatgrandchild, Shana Cumbee.

Earl is survived by his five children, Evelyn M. Harris and son-in-law, Luther Jerry, of Narrows, Herbert Mullins and daughter-in-law, Connie, of Coker, Ala., Douglas Mullins Sr., and daughter-in-law, Sharon, of Bozoo, W.Va., Henry Mullins and daughter-in-law, Judy, of Thaxton, Va., Arlene M. Sharp and son-in-law, Walter, of Narrows; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; two greatgreat-grandchildren; four brothers, Arville Mullins, of Wolford, Va., Arnold Mullins and wife, Beulah, of Callands, Va., Harold Mullins and wife, Marie, of Tazewell, and Herlen Mullins and wife, Allie Mae, of Southgate, Mich.; three sisters, Belva Lester. of Paynesville, W.Va., Beulah Stacy, of Abingdon, Va., and Berta Estep and husband, Andrew, of Wolford, Va.; many nieces and nephews; many friends; and some very special friends and neighbors, Jamie and Heather Albert and family, Shirley and Clinton Richardson, Nikki and Dwight Collins, and Jennifer and Timmy Stewart and family.

The family wants to thank Good Samaritan Hospice nurses and aides for their wonderful care.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2009, in the chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with the Rev. John Offenberger and the Rev. Ward Harris officiating. Family members will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg with Graveside Rites by VFW Post #6000 of Narrows, American Legion Post #68 of Narrows and Post #311 of Pembroke.
