Leighton, Debra Austin

With a heavy heart but feeling so, so, lucky to have had her in our lives for as long as we did, we share with you that Debra Austin Leighton died peacefully Thursday, April 23, 2015 surrounded by the love and support of so many of her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband David Leighton of Fairlawn, her children Nicki Leighton, Jeremy Leighton and Shanna Leighton; parents, Bunk and Mary Austin of Radford, her sister Donna Wickline of Radford, her brother Greg Austin of Asheville, NC, and her grandchildren Eleanor Scardina, McKenzie and Mareya Leighton and many other loving relatives, friends, and children she took into the home and loved.

Always the life of the party and radiating positivity and love we will honor her wishes with a small ceremony at the Christiansburg Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., with family receiving friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. and a celebration of her life and spirit will be Wednesday evening at 5:30 p.m. at Bull and Bones at the River located in the clubhouse of the Pete Dye River Course of Virginia Tech.

Constantly giving and thinking of others, we ask that you remember by making a donation to the Ronald McDonald House in Durham, Micah’s Backpack, or Heifer International in lieu of flowers.
