Moss, Dorothy Argabrite

amem_christmas-house.jpgDorothy Argabrite Moss, of Tallahassee, Fla., and formerly of Blacksburg, Va., passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2008, at the age of 92. Mrs. Moss was born and raised in Blacksburg, Va. Her parents were the late Henry Edwin and Mary Whitescarver Argabrite.

She and her late husband, Archie Rennie Moss, owned the Blacksburg Insurance Agency until their retirement. At her death, she was the longest living member of the Blacksburg Baptist Church where she served on the music committee and sang in the church choir. She also was a member of the Ut Prosim Society at Virginia Tech and a former member of the Blacksburg Junior Woman’s Club.

Mrs. Moss is survived by her three children, Jane Warner and her husband William, of Charleston, S.C., Louise Moss, of Tallahassee, Fla., and John Moss and his wife, Janet, of Fredericksburg, Va. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Sara Warrick and her husband, Bobby, of Charleston, S.C., Michael Arrington, of Charleston, S.C., Brian Moss, of Tahoe City, Calif., Jennifer Moss, of Harrisonburg, Va., and Jack Warner and his wife, Teri, of Bellingham, Wash. Mrs. Moss had three great granddaughters, Harper Warrick, Addison Warner, and Hannah Warner.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to her caregivers, Joann and Carolyn, as well as Covenant Hospice of Tallahassee, Fla., and Faith Funeral Home, of Havana, Fla.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2008, at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, Blacksburg, Va. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2008, at the Blacksburg Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg, Va.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the “Archie R. and Dorothy A. Moss Scholarship Fund” payable to Virginia Tech Foundation, Inc., c/o University Development (0336), 902 Prices Fork Road, Blacksburg, Va. 24061.
