Gutshall, Eddie K.

Eddie Kyle Gutshall, 75, of Christiansburg, died Saturday, December 20, 2008 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Eddie was a member of The McDaniel Lodge # 86 AF & AM. He retired from RAAP in September 1990 as a foreman in the instrument shop. Eddie was a faithful member of St Paul United Methodist Church, where he was a loving Servant of God.

He was born in Monterey, Va. to the late Harper Lee and Rebecca Gutshall. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Glenlynn Gutshall, and his sister, Charlotte Anne Hughes.

A United States Navy Veteran serving from 1952 – 1956, he traveled around the world on the USS Storms DD 780, he was a member of the American Legion Post # 59 in Christiansburg.

Surviving are his second wife, Flora Phelps Gutshall; daughter and son-in-law, Sally Gutshall Archibald and Mark; grandchildren, Drew, Kevin, Samuel, and Max Archibald. Stepchildren, Alice Castellano, George Phelps, Cara Blemings and Brian Phelps, also survive.

The family will receive friends at The Horne Funeral Home, Friday, December 26, 2008 from 5 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. at St Paul United Methodist Church Saturday, December 27, 2008 with the Rev. David Goodpasture and the Rev. Brian Siegle officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of ones choice.
