Blankenship, Walter Jackson
Walkie’s work is over. Walter Jackson (Walkie) Blankenship, 38, of Narrows, Va., passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 21, 2008, at his home. A lifelong resident of Giles County, he was born on February 25, 1970, and was the son of the late Homer Jackson and Helen Cash Blankenship French. In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Leslie Bostwick.
A 1988 graduate of Narrows High School, he was employed by Maco Tools in Christiansburg. He’ll be best remembered for his special sense of humor and love of his family, especially his son.
He is survived by a son, Austin Jordan Evans; his fiance, Rebecca Diane Weiss; her children, Tyler Evans and Alesia Dunford; a sister, Angie Weatherly; a brother, Lewis Bostwick and wife, Anna, all of Narrows; two stepbrothers, George French, of Narrows, and Pete and Shelby French, of New Castle; several special nieces and nephews, including Isaiah Coffey, Nehemiah Jones, Andrea and Ashley Blankenship, Amanda and Brian Snidow, Jessica and Greg Parsell; and many special friends.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2008, in the chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with the Rev. Warren Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Blankenship Cemetery in the Wolf Creek community near Narrows. The family will receive friends at Riffe’s Funeral Service on Friday, December 26, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m.
