Porter, Danny Ray

Danny Ray Porter, 65, of Pulaski County, after a struggle with cancer, passed away peacefully and in the presence of his Lord and Savior at Montgomery Regional Hospital, surrounded by family on April 4, 2015. Born on October 20, 1949, he was the son of Ray and Claudine Porter, of the Piney area of Fort Chiswell, VA.

Danny was a retiree of Xaloy, Inc. in Pulaski, VA, where he worked for more than 41 years. He attended Heritage Church Assembly of God of Dublin, VA.

Danny’s survivors include his parents, his wife of 43 years, Imogene Gardner Porter, and two sons, Daniel and girlfriend Teresa Davis of Fairlawn, VA, and David and wife Kathryn, along with expected grandson of Roanoke, VA. Danny was also survived by his brothers, Daryl and wife Lydia Porter, Deron and wife Renee Porter, and his sister, Vicky and husband John Hobson of Kentucky. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Danny loved time with family playing cards, riding motorcycles, golfing, hunting, construction projects, and working with his John Deere tractor.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Heritage Church, 6195 Cleburne Blvd., Dublin, with Pastor Ron Blevins officiating with burial following at Thornspring Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday evening at the church.
