Price, Betty Absher

Betty Marie Absher Price, 80, of Christiansburg (formerly Blacksburg), went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 30, 2015, following an extended illness. She was born in Roanoke County, Virginia, on September 12, 1934, to the late Ira Tivis Absher and Annie May Ratliff Absher.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold H. Price. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Barbara and Dennis Murray; Mark and Sara Price; Sharon and Les Goff; Matthew and Jenni Price; eleven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Betty loved working with children of all ages. When her older children were growing up, she taught Sunday School and Junior Church; she later worked in various ministries at Gateway Baptist including its Christian education ministry, the outreach ministry at the Juvenile Detention Home, and teaching a Ladies Sunday School class. For a number of years, she participated in the NRV Chapter of Project Linus (nrvprojectlinus.org), making and contributing her crocheted blankets.

There will be no viewing or memorial service. Graveside services will be held Friday, April 3, 2015 at 11:00 am in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jared Goff officiating.
